Fall 2025

November 14-16 @ Crossroads Camp and Conference Center

This year we’re excited to introduce a new retreat created specifically for women ages 18 and older. While our middle and high school girls will continue to have their own retreat experience through Space Camp Girls, this new gathering is designed for women in every season of life.

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.

1 Corinthians 12:4-7 (NLT)

Join us this fall as we gather around 1 Corinthians 12 to celebrate the unique gifts God has given each woman. Though our talents are different, we serve the same God with one purpose. Through worship, teaching, and community, you’ll be encouraged to discover your unique gifts and embrace your role in the body of Christ.

What to Expect

Teaching

Our heart is for you to experience practical, biblically-based teaching that brings clarity to God’s design for spiritual gifts. Each session is rooted in Scripture, but also filled with real-life application so you leave not just encouraged, but equipped to walk in your unique calling.

Rest

Enjoy the beauty and peace of the Blue Ridge Mountains at CrossRoads Camp and Conference Center. From cozy spaces for rest, to trails, fresh mountain air, and quiet places to reflect, this retreat offers the perfect backdrop for pressing pause and being refreshed.

Community

This weekend brings together a diverse group of women from many communities and churches. Here, friendships are formed, stories are shared, and encouragement is found as we discover we are all part of one body, serving the same God.

Weekend Overview

Day 1 – God’s Design for Spiritual Gifts

We’ll kick things off with check-in and dinner, followed by our first session, Same, But Different, where we’ll begin exploring the theme of spiritual gifts. Afterward, get ready for some fun with a late-night Murder Mystery, then settle in for the night.

Day 2 – Understanding & Exploring Gifts

Our day begins with breakfast and Session 2, a teaching time focused on understanding spiritual gifts. Throughout the day, you’ll rotate through three breakout sessions, each offering personal stories, practical insights, and encouragement for discovering and developing your gifts. We’ll also enjoy meals together, a snack break, and free time to relax or connect. In the evening, Session 3 will challenge us to begin stepping into our gifts, followed by a lively Karaoke Night to close out the day with laughter and community.

Day 3 – Discovering & Practicing Gifts

We’ll wrap up with breakfast and a final Worship Session, reflecting on all that God has done over the weekend before heading home.

Teachers

Melissa Dunn

Melissa Dunn is a wife to Jared and mom to their daughters, Adeline & Adora. She is passionate about creating spaces where women can explore God’s Word, grow in confidence, and discover the unique ways He has gifted them.

Melissa is also an entrepreneur, developing products designed to support the neurodivergent community. Her heart for both creativity and service comes through in the way she encourages others to see their God-given differences as strengths.

In addition, Melissa shares her love for Scripture through her online project, MyBibleLab on YouTube, where she helps others think deeply and practically about the Bible and who God is.

Andy Bruce

Andy Bruce is a California girl at heart, though she and her husband—also named Andy, affectionately called Andy Girl and Andy Boy—have called Virginia home for 20 years. Together they are raising three children who came along in less than three years, making life full and lively. Andy is a fun-loving extrovert who thrives in a room full of people, loves spontaneous adventures, and enjoys a good book.

After completing her doctorate in Educational Leadership in 2018, Andy began teaching in higher education and now serves as the high school principal at Onward Christian Academy. With more than 20 years in women’s and youth ministry, her greatest joy is seeing students and women fully surrender to Jesus. She is passionate about leadership and loves equipping emerging leaders with practical tools to grow deeper in their walk with Christ.

Joy Morykon

Joy Morykon is an abstract artist and sacred space maker whose heart is to help women reconnect with their intuition and deepest longings in the heart of the Father. Through one-on-one coaching and workshops, she walks alongside women who feel stuck in their calling or creativity, weighed down by relational or church wounds, or navigating seasons of transition—guiding them toward courage, healing, and new direction.

Known for her attentive and compassionate presence, Joy draws from her own journey through difficult seasons to help others discover the hope that comes when our hearts are truly seen. Her favorite soul-care practices include prayer swims at the YMCA, slow stitching on the couch, and lingering in pajamas on Saturday mornings with a good book.

Karla Powell

Karla Powell is a devoted wife and mother of two, an evangelist, Licensed Resident in Counseling, author, and the Founder and Executive Director of Anxious for Nothing, a non-profit ministry. In 2024, she released her debut book Rest, born from a midnight revelation in which God gave her both the word and an acronym that continues to inspire her life and ministry.

Karla lives with a deep commitment to pursuing the Lord and relying on His grace in every season. She is passionate about encouraging others to embrace their God-given purpose and to place their trust in His abundant power to accomplish more than they could imagine.

Katie Gravitt

After several years teaching in the public school system, Katie Gravitt followed God’s leading into a new season as a stay-at-home mom. She now serves at Compassion Church as the Women’s Ministry Coordinator and Nursery Director, where she delights in encouraging women, supporting families, and helping the littlest ones experience God’s love from the very beginning.

Katie’s heart is to see women deeply rooted in God’s Word, flourishing in community, and living out their faith in everyday life.

Lauren Barr

Lauren Barr has been on a journey with the Lord following where He leads for over a decade. Through career changes, pastoring, entrepreneurship, and moving states - she is an example of what it looks like to walk with God even when it doesn’t make sense.

Tara Cofer

Tara loves Jesus, her family, friends, and her dogs. She serves in kids’ ministry and has a passion for traveling to Nicaragua to love on communities and share God’s love. Tara’s heart is to encourage others while helping them grow in their relationship with God at the center of their lives.

In her free time, she enjoys walking trails, crocheting, and connecting with people in ways that make them feel truly seen and cared for.

Lori McVicar

Lori is originally from Connecticut but has called Lynchburg, VA home since 2018. A Liberty University alum, she has dedicated her career to education and leadership, serving as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal. Lori’s heart for ministry and service extends beyond the classroom—she has served on the boards of multiple non-profit programs, worked as a therapeutic foster parent, and supported youth through equine therapy programs.

Lori is passionate about helping others discover their God-given gifts and live balanced, purposeful lives. She enjoys riding horses, walking with her labradoodle Coco Chanel, and finding ways to pour into the lives of others through mentorship, encouragement, and faith-centered leadership.

Carisa Hicks

Carisa has been a business owner for over 20 years, a mom for 23, and a wife for even longer—a journey that has shaped her understanding of love, hard work, and dedication. When she’s not pouring into her family or business, Carissa enjoys life in the countryside, embracing the rhythms of farm life.

Her soul finds renewal outdoors, whether tending her garden or simply connecting with nature—a place where she feels closest to God and most deeply refreshed.

Galyn Damiani

Galyn is a leader of leaders, bringing both a strategist’s mind and a coach’s heart into every space she enters. She thrives on connecting ideas, people, and processes across fragmented systems, challenging others to think boldly, and mentoring women to discover and develop their unique gifts. Grounded in her gifts of leadership, faith, and wisdom, Galyn’s passion is designing systems that empower and engage—always striving to leave people and organizations stronger than she found them.

Creativity, courage, and resilience fuel Galyn’s work, sparking transformation at the intersection of strategy, innovation, and personal growth. Outside of her leadership roles, she is an avid world traveler and adventure enthusiast, finding joy in wakeboarding, paddleboarding, skydiving, and canyoning around the globe. She also loves baking cheesecakes, cooking for friends and family, spending time with her black lab Ember, and training for races that satisfy her competitive spirit.

Charlene Morell

Charlene Morell finds joy in teaching youth, women's ministry, and sharing the Gospel. She adores scripture and loves coming alongside of truth seekers. Charlene serves in middle school, travels to Sierra Leone each year to partner with a children’s home and pastors in Africa, and in her professional life is a leader.

FAQ

Housing

We recommend bringing your Bible, a journal, comfortable clothes for sessions and free time, and personal items for your stay. Since cell service is limited, you may also want a printed copy of directions or important phone numbers. If you’re staying in Lodge or Cabin housing, don’t forget to bring your own bedding, towels, and toiletries (Hotel-Style rooms provide these). A water bottle, walking shoes, and a light jacket are also helpful.
